Competition Admin (Organizer)

Competition Setup End-to-End

Create and configure a competition from draft to launch-ready with all core dependencies in place.

Prerequisites

- Organizer account with access to /admin

- Event basics ready: name, dates, city, venue shortlist

- Initial category and scoring model decisions

Step-by-step workflow

1) Create the competition shell

- Go to Admin -> Create and submit event basics.

- If running a circuit, assign organization/portfolio metadata up front.

- Confirm competition appears in organizer dashboard.

2) Configure setup tabs in order

- Event and core settings: limits, application windows, defaults.

- Categories and scoring: levels, styles, age divisions, rubric behavior.

- Pricing and ticketing: only enable online collection when billing is fully configured.

- Public tab: branding, visibility strategy, and parent-facing content.

3) Build operations backbone

- Add venues before scheduling sessions.

- Assign judges and verify assignment docs are created.

- Approve/invite studios, then validate dancer and routine data quality.

4) Prepare launch

- Create schedule blocks with non-overlapping judge/venue usage.

- Publish program and standings only after QA pass.

- Move to live event state when audience-facing pages are ready.

Validation checklist

- All required setup tabs have complete values and no placeholders.

- At least one venue, one judge assignment, one approved studio, and one routine exist.

- Public page visibility and content are aligned with launch timing.

- Schedule has no judge/venue conflicts.

Common failure modes and fixes

Schedule cannot be completed cleanly

- Backfill missing venues or correct judge staffing before session planning.

Studios cannot submit valid entries

- Re-check category taxonomy and required fields under setup categories/scoring.
